BILL NUMBER: S6684 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to granting of discounted E-Z Pass privileges to SUNY and CUNY students PURPOSE : Enables registered SUNY and CUNY students to receive discounted prices on tolls if they use an E-Z Pass. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 354 of the public authorities law is amended by adding a new subdivision 14-a which grants discounted E-Z Pass privileges to all currently enrolled full-time and part-time students in the CUNY or SUNY system. JUSTIFICATION : Staten Islanders already receive a resident reduction rate if they own an E-Z Pass while crossing the Verrazano bridge. This bill will exclude the residents who already receive the discount and include all of the State and City University of New York students. This legislation will ease some of the financial burdens that many students face. LEGISLATIVE HISTORY :
