BILL NUMBER: S6771 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the public health law and the education law, in relation to information on the H1N1 influenza virus PURPOSE : Directs the commissioners of health and education to compile and provide information on the H1N1 influenza virus through the department of health website. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. Amends section 206 of the public health law, to add a provision requiring that the commissioner of health and the commissioner of education compile and provide to the public all of the most current information on the H1N1 influenza virus both in written format and on the Health Department internet website. Section 2. Amends section 305 of the education law to include a new subdivision requiring that the commissioner of education consult and cooperate with the commissioner of health to compile and provide current and relevant information regarding the H1N1 influenza virus to the public in both written format and through the Department of Health's website. The Department of Education's website is also required to include a link to the Health Department's website

JOHNSON, LANZA, LARKIN, LAVALLE, MAZIARZ, MONSERRATE, MORAHAN, PADAVAN, RANZENHOFER, SALAND, SEWARD, VOLKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law and the education law, in relation to information on the H1N1 influenza virus THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 206 of the public health law is amended by adding a new subdivision 27 to read as follows: 27. THE COMMISSIONER, IN CONSULTATION AND COOPERATION WITH THE COMMIS- SIONER OF EDUCATION, SHALL COMPILE AND PROVIDE TO THE PUBLIC, IN WRITTEN FORM AND ON THE DEPARTMENT INTERNET WEBSITE, ALL THE MOST CURRENT INFOR- MATION ON THE H1N1 INFLUENZA VIRUS, INCLUDING THE SPREAD OF SUCH VIRUS WITHIN THE STATE AND THE PREVENTION OF THE CONTRACTING OF THE VIRUS. S 2. Section 305 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 42 to read as follows: 42. HE OR SHE SHALL CONSULT AND COOPERATE WITH THE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH, TO COMPILE AND PROVIDE TO THE PUBLIC, IN WRITTEN FORM AND ON THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH INTERNET WEBSITE, ALL THE MOST CURRENT INFORMATION ON THE H1N1 INFLUENZA VIRUS, INCLUDING THE SPREAD OF SUCH VIRUS WITHIN THE STATE AND THE PREVENTION OF THE CONTRACTING OF THE VIRUS. ALL INFORMATION RELATING TO THE H1N1 INFLUENZA VIRUS MAINTAINED ON THE DEPARTMENT INTERNET WEBSITE SHALL BE PROVIDED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR INCLUSION ON THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH'S INTERNET WEBSITE. FURTHERMORE THE DEPARTMENT INTERNET WEBSITE SHALL INCLUDE A LINK TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH'S INTERNET WEBSITE RELATING TO THE H1N1 INFLUENZA VIRUS. S 3.
