AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation to naming the Newtown  Pippin
  apple as the official state historic fruit

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The state law is amended by adding a new  section  81-a  to
read as follows:
  S  81-A.  STATE  HISTORIC FRUIT. THE NEWTOWN PIPPIN APPLE SHALL BE THE
OFFICIAL HISTORIC FRUIT OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
