AN  ACT  to amend the private housing finance law and the public housing
  law, in relation  to  preferences  in  admission  to  certain  housing
  projects

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 7 of section 31 of the private
housing finance law, as amended by chapter 179 of the laws of  2006,  is
amended to read as follows:
  (a)  have served in the armed forces of the United States for a period
of at least six months (or any shorter period which  terminated  due  to
death  or injury incurred in such service), provided some portion of the
period of service was [between the twenty-eighth day of February,  nine-
teen  hundred  sixty-one  to  the  seventh  day of May, nineteen hundred
seventy-five] (I) DURING THE HOSTILITIES KNOWN AS THE  VIETNAM  CONFLICT
WHICH  COMMENCED  THE  TWENTY-EIGHTH  DAY  OF FEBRUARY, NINETEEN HUNDRED
SIXTY-ONE AND TERMINATED ON THE SEVENTH DAY  OF  MAY,  NINETEEN  HUNDRED
SEVENTY-FIVE;  OR (II) WAS THE RECIPIENT OF THE ARMED FORCES EXPEDITION-
ARY MEDAL, NAVY EXPEDITIONARY MEDAL, OR MARINE CORPS EXPEDITIONARY MEDAL
FOR PARTICIPATION IN OPERATIONS IN VIETNAM; OR (III)  IN  OPERATIONS  IN
LEBANON FROM THE FIRST DAY OF JUNE, NINETEEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-THREE TO THE
FIRST  DAY  OF DECEMBER, NINETEEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-SEVEN; OR (IV) IN OPER-
ATIONS IN GRENADA FROM THE TWENTY-THIRD DAY OF OCTOBER, NINETEEN HUNDRED
EIGHTY-THREE TO THE  TWENTY-FIRST  DAY  OF  NOVEMBER,  NINETEEN  HUNDRED
EIGHTY-THREE;  OR  (V) IN OPERATIONS IN PANAMA FROM THE TWENTIETH DAY OF
DECEMBER, NINETEEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-NINE TO THE THIRTY-FIRST DAY OF  JANU-
ARY,  NINETEEN  HUNDRED  NINETY; OR (VI) IN THE HOSTILITIES KNOWN AS THE
PERSIAN GULF CONFLICT WHICH COMMENCED THE SECOND DAY OF AUGUST, NINETEEN
HUNDRED NINETY TO THE END OF SUCH HOSTILITIES, and
