AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to establishing the offense
of disruption of a sports contest
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The penal law is amended by adding a new section 240.23 to
read as follows:
S 240.23 DISRUPTION OF A SPORTS CONTEST.
A PERSON IS GUILTY OF DISRUPTION OF A SPORTS CONTEST WHEN, NOT BEING A
SPORTS PARTICIPANT AS DEFINED IN SUBDIVISION TWO OF SECTION 180.35 OF
THIS PART, HE OR SHE, WITH INTENT TO CAUSE ANNOYANCE, ALARM OR PHYSICAL
INJURY TO A SPORT PARTICIPANT OR SPORTS OFFICIAL AS DEFINED IN SUBDIVI-
SION THREE OF SECTION 180.35 OF THIS PART, CAUSES AN OBJECT TO BE
PROJECTED ONTO THE FIELD OF PLAY OF A SPORTS CONTEST AS DEFINED IN
SUBDIVISION ONE OF SECTION 180.35 OF THIS PART.
DISRUPTION OF A SPORTS CONTEST IS A CLASS A MISDEMEANOR.
S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
