AN  ACT  to amend the election law, in relation to eligibility for state
  party committee

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Subdivision  3  of  section  2-102 of the election law is
amended to read as follows:
  3. To be eligible for election as a member of the state  committee  at
the  first  election  next ensuing after a readjustment or alteration of
the units of representation becomes effective, a  candidate,  IF  NOT  A
RESIDENT  OF  THE  UNIT  FROM  WHICH HE OR SHE IS ELECTED AS PROVIDED IN
SUBDIVISION TWO OF THIS SECTION, must only have been a resident  of  the
county  in  which  the  unit,  or any part thereof, is contained for the
twelve months immediately preceding the election.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
