Introduced  by  Sens. SEWARD, GRISANTI, HANNON, JOHNSON, LARKIN, LITTLE,
  MAZIARZ, RANZENHOFER -- read  twice  and  ordered  printed,  and  when
  printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation

AN  ACT  to  amend  the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to affixing
  school district websites on school buses

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Section 1223-a of the vehicle and traffic law, as amended
by chapter 94 of the laws of 1998, is amended to read as follows:
  S 1223-a. School buses; required identification. All school buses,  as
defined  in  section  one  hundred forty-two of this chapter, purchased,
leased or acquired on or after September first, nineteen  hundred  nine-
ty-seven  shall  have  the  area  code and telephone number of the owner
and/or operator printed  in three inch bold type on  the  rear  of  such
vehicle.    Provided,  however,  that  nothing contained herein shall be
deemed to prohibit the printing of such information as  herein  provided
on  school buses purchased, acquired or leased prior to September first,
nineteen hundred ninety-seven.  AT THE DISCRETION OF  THE  OWNER  AND/OR
OPERATOR,  SCHOOL  BUSES  MAY  HAVE  THE UNIFORM RESOURCE LOCATOR OF THE
SCHOOL DISTRICT'S WEBSITE PRINTED IN THREE INCH BOLD TYPE ON THE REAR OF
SUCH VEHICLE.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
