BILL NUMBER:S4838

TITLE OF BILL:

An act
to amend chapter 709 of the laws of 2005, relating to authorizing the
commissioner of general services to convey certain land in Queens county
to the city of New York department of parks and recreation, in relation
to omitting the requirement that the property be conveyed within one
year

PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:

In 2005 A8421A was chaptered; this law allows for the transfer of
state land to the New York City Parks Department by the commissioner
of New York State Office of General Services. However, there was a
requirement that this property be conveyed in one year, unfortunately
the New York City parks department and Queens County could not
complete this transfer within this one year period. This bill removes
this requirement so that this transfer marl, be completed at an
appropriate time.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section 1 of the bill amends chapter 709 of the laws of 2005 to omit
the requirement that property in Queens county be conveyed to the
city of New York department of parks and recreation within one year.

Section 2 of the bill provides for this act to take effect immediately

JUSTIFICATION:

The state property described in this legislation is located behind
P.S. 16 in Queens County and is unutilized by the state, and the New
York City Parks Department will be able to clean the property and
expand an existing recreation area. Removing the requirement that the
transfer must be completed in a year would allow this planned
transfer to occur.

PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:

Same As A.4791 (Weprin)

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS:

To be determined.

EFFECTIVE DATE:

This act shall take effect immediately.
