BILL NUMBER:S6932 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding law, in relation to the distribution of surcharges on off-track winnings PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To extend the current authorization for the distribution of surcharge revenues which will otherwise expire on August 31, 2012. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: This bill would allow the allocation of specific surcharge revenues to the same racetrack to continue for another five year period. EFFECT ON CURRENT LAW: Changes the expiration date from August 31, 2012 to August 31, 2017, in keeping with the length of previous extensions. JUSTIFICATION: This is more a matter of "housekeeping" than anything else. Every five years, the provision for the distribution of surcharge earnings from off track winning bets has expired. This

KENNEDY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Racing, Gaming and Wager- ing AN ACT to amend the racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding law, in relation to the distribution of surcharges on off-track winnings THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subparagraph (vi) of paragraph b of subdivision 3 of section 532 of the racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding law, as added by chapter 365 of the laws of 2009, is amended to read as follows: (vi) for the period of September first, two thousand [seven] TWELVE until August thirty-first, two thousand [twelve] SEVENTEEN and where the track conducting the race on which the bet was placed is a harness track located in the county of Erie, to such track. S 2. This act shall take effect September 1, 2012. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD14381-01-2
