TITLE OF BILL:
An act
to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the

which crosses interstate route 495 in the town of Brookhaven, the
"Richard Nappi Memorial Bridge."

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section One amends the highway law by
adding a new section 343-z which designates a portion of the state
highway system the "Richard Nappi Memorial Bridge."

Section Two directs the commissioner of transportation to install and

Section Three is the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION:
Lt. Richard A. Nappi, a member of the Fire Department
of New York's Engine 237 died in the line of duty on April 16, 2012
while battling a burning warehouse in Brooklyn. Lt.
Nappi, a resident of Farmingville, also volunteered with the

Lt. Richard Nappi had dedicated his life to firefighting, and the

Island wildfires, and on September 11, 2001 he raced to lower
Manhattan following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center,
even though it was his day off.
