JEFFRIES -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Labor AN ACT to amend the workers' compensation law, in relation to the time period in which a hearing must be held THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 3 of section 25 of the work- ers' compensation law, as amended by chapter 61 of the laws of 1986, is amended to read as follows: (b) Nothing [herein] IN THIS SECTION shall limit the right of the board in a particular case to hold a hearing and make an award in accordance with other provisions of this chapter. No case shall be closed without notice to all parties interested and without giving to all such parties an opportunity to be heard. A HEARING SHALL BE HELD BEFORE A REFEREE WITHIN TWENTY DAYS OF THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR A HEARING, ACCOMPANIED BY SUPPORTING EVIDENCE, MADE BY ANY PARTY IN ANY CASE, UNLESS SUCH CASE IS INITIALLY CONTROVERTED.
