AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to directing  employ-
  ees  and agents of the division of parole to disclose to the appropri-
  ate public health officer certain  HIV  related  information  for  the
  purpose of informing contacts

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Paragraph (l) of subdivision  1  of  section  2782  of  the
public  health  law,  as  added  by  chapter 584 of the laws of 1988, is
amended to read as follows:
  (l) an employee or agent of the division of parole[,]; (1) in  accord-
ance  with  paragraph  (a)  of  subdivision  two of section twenty-seven
hundred eighty-six of this article, to the extent the employee or  agent
is  authorized to access records containing such information in order to
carry out the division's functions, powers and duties  with  respect  to
the  protected  individual, pursuant to section two hundred fifty-nine-a
of the executive law; AND
  (2) SHALL DISCLOSE SUCH CONFIDENTIAL HIV RELATED  INFORMATION  TO  THE
APPROPRIATE  PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING THE DISCLO-
SURE TO A CONTACT OR CONTACTS AS SUCH IS DEFINED BY SECTION TWENTY-SEVEN
HUNDRED EIGHTY OF THIS ARTICLE. SUCH  DISCLOSURE  SHALL  BE  DONE  IN  A
MANNER CONSISTENT WITH CONSIDERATIONS AND PROVISIONS SET FORTH IN SUBDI-
VISION FOUR OF THIS SECTION;
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
