AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to providing coverage for
  compression sleeves

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Subsection  (i)  of  section 3216 of the insurance law is
amended by adding a new paragraph 28 to read as follows:
  (28) EVERY INSURED PERSON SHALL BE ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT  FOR  THE
COSTS  ASSOCIATED  WITH THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF LYMPHEDEMA.  SUCH
REIMBURSEMENT SHALL ALSO INCLUDE THE COST OF COMPRESSION SLEEVES USED TO
ALLEVIATE THE PAIN AND DISCOMFORT OF LYMPHEDEMA.
  S 2. Subsection (k) of section 3221 of the insurance law is amended by
adding a new paragraph 17 to read as follows:
  (17) EVERY GROUP  POLICY  ISSUED  OR  DELIVERED  IN  THIS  STATE  THAT
PROVIDES  MEDICAL  COVERAGE  OF ANY KIND SHALL ALSO PROVIDE COVERAGE FOR
THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF LYMPHEDEMA. SUCH REIMBURSEMENT SHALL ALSO
INCLUDE THE COST OF COMPRESSION SLEEVES USED TO ALLEVIATE THE  PAIN  AND
DISCOMFORT OF LYMPHEDEMA.
  S  3.  Section  4303  of  the insurance law is amended by adding a new
subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
  (A-1) EVERY CONTRACT ISSUED  BY  A  HOSPITAL  SERVICE  CORPORATION  OR
HEALTH  SERVICE  CORPORATION WHICH PROVIDES MEDICAL COVERAGE OF ANY KIND
SHALL ALSO PROVIDE COVERAGE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF LYMPHEDE-
MA. SUCH REIMBURSEMENT  SHALL  ALSO  INCLUDE  THE  COST  OF  COMPRESSION
SLEEVES USED TO ALLEVIATE THE PAIN AND DISCOMFORT OF LYMPHEDEMA.
  S  4.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
have become a law and shall  apply  to  any  policy  issued,  delivered,
renewed, or modified on or after the effective date of this act.
