AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in  relation  to  requiring
  fees charged by official inspection stations to be the same throughout
  the state

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivision (c) of section 305 of the vehicle  and  traffic
law,  as  amended by chapter 608 of the laws of 1993, is amended to read
as follows:
  (c) The commissioner may establish maximum fees to be  charged  by  an
official  inspection  station,  PROVIDED HOWEVER, SUCH FEES SHALL BE THE
SAME FOR ALL AREAS OF  THE  STATE.    Such  fees  shall  be  prominently
displayed at such station.
  S  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
have become a law.
