BILL NUMBER:S656 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to fishing events as rehabilitation for members of the United States armed forces PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill would allow the Department of Environmental Conservation to designate organized fishing events that provide physical and emotional rehabilitation for current and former Members of the Armed Services. JUSTIFICATION: In addition to the sport fishing clinics which are already authorized in statute, this bill would allow the Department of Environmental Conservation to designate organized fishing events that provide physical and emotional rehabilitation for current and former Members of the Armed Services. Those participating in these events would not have to obtain a fishing license. This bill seeks to provide the Department of Environmental Conservation with the flexibility to designate fishing events for both our veterans and active duty Members of the Armed Services. By doing this it will allow our current and former military personnel with the chance to relax and unwind while enjoying one of New York
