  ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee  on

AN  ACT  to  amend  the election law, in relation to prohibiting certain
  voters from attendance at certain polling places

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  The election law is amended by adding a new section 8-108
to read as follows:
  S 8-108. PROHIBITED ATTENDANCE OF CERTAIN VOTERS. A VOTER WHO HAS BEEN
CONVICTED OF A SEX OFFENSE UNDER ARTICLE 130 OF THE PENAL LAW AND WHO IS
OTHERWISE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE SHALL BE PROHIBITED FROM ATTENDANCE AT  POLL-
ING  PLACES  LOCATED  WITHIN SCHOOLS; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT THE COUNTY
BOARD OF ELECTIONS SHALL PROVIDE AN ALTERNATE  POLLING  PLACE  FOR  SUCH
VOTER TO CAST HIS OR HER BALLOT.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
ing the date upon which it shall have become a law.
