BILL NUMBER:S4957 TITLE OF BILL: An act relating to making the unregistered domestic partner of Martin McWilliams eligible to receive benefits under section 208-f of the general municipal law and section 13-347 of the administrative code of the city of New York PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Provides that the unregistered domestic partner of Martin McWilliams is eligible to receive benefits under section 208-f of the general municipal law and section 13-347 of the administrative code of the City of New York. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 provides that the unregistered domestic partner of Martin McWilliams is eligible to receive benefits under section 208-f of the General Municipal Law and section 13-347 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York. Section 2 Effective date. JUSTIFICATION: This legislation addresses and issue which arose as a result of the enactment of Chapter 162 of 2003 which took away the benefits afforded to the unregistered domestic partner of Martin McWilliams by Chapter 468 of 2002.

BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT relating to making the unregistered domestic partner of Martin McWilliams eligible to receive benefits under section 208-f of the general municipal law and section 13-347 of the administrative code of the city of New York THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of chapter 162 of the laws of 2003, the unregistered domestic partner of Martin McWilliams shall be entitled to receive benefits under section 208-f of the general munici- pal law and section 13-347 of the administrative code of the city of New York. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD05178-01-3
