AN ACT making an appropriation for the rehabilitation  of  the  Soldiers
  and Sailors Museum

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The sum  of  six  million  five  hundred  thousand  dollars
($6,500,000),  or  so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appro-
priated to the New York city department of buildings out of  any  moneys
in  the  state treasury in the general fund, not otherwise appropriated,
and made immediately available, for the  purpose  of  carrying  out  the
provisions  of  this  act. Such moneys shall be payable on the audit and
warrant of the comptroller on vouchers certified or approved by the  New
York  city  commissioner  of  buildings in the manner prescribed by law;
provided, however, that:
  (a) five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) of such  money  shall  be
used  for  the  purpose of hiring a contractor to develop a plan for the
rehabilitation of the Soldiers and Sailors Museum in Riverside Park,  in
New York city; and
  (b)  six  million  dollars ($6,000,000) of such money shall be used to
fund the rehabilitation plan developed by  the  contractor  pursuant  to
subdivision (a) of this section.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
