AN ACT to authorize the Dutchess county department of personnel to  hire
  Frederick  A. Eberhard, Charles Eyler III and Justin R. Hogan, as full
  time sheriff deputies

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
service law, the Dutchess  county  department  of  personnel  is  hereby
authorized  to  hire Frederick A. Eberhard, Charles Eyler III and Justin
R. Hogan, who are currently part-time sheriff deputies with the Dutchess
county sheriff's office, for provisional appointments as full-time sher-
iff deputies, until such time as they are able to complete  the  compet-
itive exam for such positions.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
