BILL NUMBER:S535

TITLE OF BILL:
An act
to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in
relation to access to state parks and recreational facilities by
veterans without charge

PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To give a much needed and well
deserved benefit to veterans that have served their country.

JUSTIFICATION:
These privileges are currently extended to disabled
veterans. Many veterans however are on a fixed income. The fees for
some veterans are simply too great just to enjoy a day at the park.
In effect, it may attract more veterans to our beautiful state parks.
This bill would make access to our state parks and recreation
facilities easier to all veterans.

PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:
2011-12: S.6975/A.6645 Referred to Cultural Affairs, Tourism
Parks and Recreation

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
To be determined.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
Shall take effect the one hundred and eightieth day
after it shall
have become a law, provided, however, that effective immediately, the
addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rules or regulations
necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date is
authorized and directed to be made and completed on or before such
effective date.
