AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to public education
and outreach about female genital mutilation
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 207 of the public health law is
amended by adding a new paragraph (j) to read as follows:
(J) THE PHYSICAL, SEXUAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES OF UNDERGOING
FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION, INCLUDING THE PRACTICE OF "VACATION CUTTING"
WHEREBY GIRLS ARE SENT OUT OF STATE OR THE COUNTRY TO UNDERGO FEMALE
GENITAL MUTILATION, TYPICALLY DURING SCHOOL VACATIONS.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
