AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to credits against tax

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Section  606  of  the  tax law is amended by adding a new
subsection (vv) to read as follows:
  (VV) ENERGY STAR APPLIANCE CREDIT. A TAXPAYER SHALL BE ALLOWED A CRED-
IT IN THE SUM OF THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS BEGINNING  ON  OR  AFTER  JANUARY
FIRST,  TWO  THOUSAND  FOURTEEN AND ENDING BEFORE DECEMBER THIRTY-FIRST,
TWO THOUSAND TWENTY IF HE OR SHE PURCHASES THREE  OR  MORE  ENERGY  STAR
APPLIANCES.  FOR  THE  PURPOSES  OF  THIS SECTION THE TERM "ENERGY STAR"
SHALL MEAN A DESIGNATION FROM THE UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AGENCY OR DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY INDICATING THAT A PRODUCT MEETS THE ENER-
GY EFFICIENCY STANDARDS SET FORTH BY THE AGENCY FOR COMPLIANCE WITH  THE
ENERGY  STAR PROGRAM. THE TERM "APPLIANCE" SHALL MEAN BUT NOT BE LIMITED
TO REFRIGERATOR, ROOM AIR CONDITIONER, DISHWASHER OR CLOTHES  WASHER  OR
DRYER.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to all tax
years  beginning  on or after January 1, 2014 and ending before December
31, 2020.
