WEPRIN -- read once and referred to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to including machete within the definition of a deadly weapon THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 12 of section 10.00 of the penal law, as amended by chapter 257 of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as follows: 12. "Deadly weapon" means any loaded weapon from which a shot, readily capable of producing death or other serious physical injury, may be discharged, or a switchblade knife, gravity knife, pilum ballistic knife, metal knuckle knife, dagger, MACHETE, billy, blackjack, plastic knuckles, or metal knuckles. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD08197-01-5
