AN ACT to amend the state finance law,  in  relation  to  an  office  of
  general services tracking database for food procured by agencies

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subparagraph (i) of paragraph g of subdivision 4 of section
165 of the state finance law, as amended by chapter 533 of the  laws  of
2013, is amended to read as follows:
  (i)  a description of the office's efforts to improve and increase the
tracking of information relating to New  York  state  food  procured  by
agencies  INCLUDING,  BUT  NOT LIMITED TO, A DESCRIPTION OF DATA SYSTEMS
AND TECHNOLOGIES USED FOR TRACKING SUCH INFORMATION AS WELL AS DEFICIEN-
CIES WITHIN, AND ALTERNATIVES TO, SUCH DATA TRACKING SYSTEMS  AND  TECH-
NOLOGIES AS IMPLEMENTED; and
  S  2. Subdivision 4 of section 165 of the state finance law is amended
by adding a new paragraph i to read as follows:
  I. THE COMMISSIONER AND THE COMMISSIONER OF AGRICULTURE  AND  MARKETS,
SHALL  ADVISE  AND  ASSIST  LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENTITIES ON DATA COLLECTION
METHODS PERTAINING TO  THIS  SUBDIVISION  AND  ENCOURAGE  THE  VOLUNTARY
REPORTING  OF SUCH INFORMATION TO THE OFFICE OF GENERAL SERVICES FOR THE
PURPOSE OF ANALYSIS AND DEVELOPMENT OF BEST PRACTICES.
  S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
