BILL NUMBER: S7989
TITLE OF BILL :
An act to amend the highway law, in relation to city reimbursement for
state highway construction within such cities
PURPOSE :
To raise the reimbursement rate to municipalities participating in the
Arterial Maintenance Program with the State.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS :
This bill would amend Article 12B, Section 349C subsection 7(a) of the
Highway Law to raise the amount of reimbursement from the current rate
of not more than $.85 cents per square yard of the pavement area to a
new rate of not more than $1.80 per square yard of the pavement area.
JUSTIFICATION :
Many of the State Arterial Highways pass through cities and the state,
in agreement with the local municipality provides a reimbursement of
$.85 cents per square yard of pavement for maintenance and repair of
said designated Arterials. This rate has not been raised since 1987.
Raising the rate to $1.80 per square yard of pavement would provide

AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to city reimbursement for
state highway construction within such cities
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 7 of section 349-c of the
highway law, as amended by chapter 30 of the laws of 1987, is amended to
read as follows:
(a) not more than [eighty-five] ONE DOLLAR AND EIGHTY cents per square
yard of the pavement area that is included in the state highway system
according to the provisions of this section, and
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
[ ] is old law to be omitted.
