S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 10631 I N A S S E M B L Y June 8, 2016 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Benedetto) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to directing the commissioner of health, in consultation with the commissioner of motor vehicles, to establish rules and regulations for ambulances THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 206 of the public health law is amended by adding a new subdivision 30 to read as follows: 30. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE COMMISSIONER OF MOTOR VEHICLES, ESTABLISH RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR AMBULANCES IN ORDER TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS AND THE PUBLIC AT LARGE. SUCH RULES AND REGULATIONS SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, THE MINIMUM AGE OF AMBULANCE DRIVERS, THE ALLOWABLE NUMBER OF CONSECUTIVE HOURS AN AMBU- LANCE DRIVER SHALL WORK, AND THE REQUISITE TRAINING AN AMBULANCE DRIVER SHALL RECEIVE PRIOR TO DRIVING ANY AMBULANCE.
