AN  ACT  to amend the correction law, in relation to directing the divi-
  sion of criminal justice services to notify the appropriate  agencies,
  within  48  hours of the receipt of a change of address, or of enroll-
  ment, attendance, employment or residence at an institution of  higher
  education by a sex offender

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivisions 1, 3 and 4 of section 168-j of the  correction
law, as amended by a chapter of the laws of 2016 amending the correction
law  relating  to directing the division of criminal justice services to
notify the appropriate agencies, within 48 hours of  the  receipt  of  a
change of address, or of enrollment, attendance, employment or residence
at  an institution of higher education by a sex offender, as proposed in
legislative bills numbers A.9239 and S.7252,  are  amended  to  read  as
follows:
  1.  Upon  receipt of a change of address by a sex offender required to
register under this article, but in any event no more than  [forty-eight
hours]  TWO  BUSINESS DAYS after such receipt, the division shall notify
the local law enforcement agency having jurisdiction of the new place of
residence and the local law enforcement agency where  the  sex  offender
last resided of the new place of residence.
  3. The division shall, if the sex offender changes residence to anoth-
er  state,  notify  the  appropriate agency within that state of the new
place of residence [within forty-eight hours].
  4. Upon receipt of a change in the status of the  enrollment,  attend-
ance, employment or residence at an institution of higher education by a
sex  offender  required to register under this article, but in any event
no more than [forty-eight hours] TWO BUSINESS DAYS after  such  receipt,
the  division  shall notify each law enforcement agency having jurisdic-
tion which is affected by such change.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the  same  date  and  in  the  same
manner  as  a  chapter  of  the laws of 2016 amending the correction law
