AN ACT to amend the real property tax law, in relation to tax exemptions
  for veterans

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Section 458-a of the real property tax law  is  amended  by
adding a new subdivision 10 to read as follows:
  10.  (A) A VETERAN WHO RECEIVES THE EXEMPTION PROVIDED BY THIS SECTION
PURSUANT TO A RESOLUTION ADOPTED  BY  A  SCHOOL  DISTRICT  SHALL  REMAIN
ELIGIBLE FOR ALL OTHER TAX REBATES SUCH VETERAN WOULD HAVE BEEN ELIGIBLE
FOR HAD SUCH EXEMPTION NOT BEEN GRANTED.
  (B)  THE COMMISSIONER SHALL REFUND THE FULL AMOUNT IN TAX REBATES THAT
WOULD HAVE BEEN  GRANTED  TO  SUCH  VETERANS  IN  THE  ABSENCE  OF  SUCH
EXEMPTION.
  S  2.  This  act  shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to
have been in full force and effect for taxable years  beginning  on  and
after January 1, 2014.
