PEOPLES-STOKES -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT relating to the distribution of potassium iodide in a radiologi- cal emergency THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The disaster preparedness commission shall revise the New York state radiological emergency preparedness plan to mandate the pre- distribution of potassium iodide to personnel monitoring centers, prima- ry MS-1 hospital facilities, and state emergency management facilities located within a fifty mile radius of nuclear power sites for distrib- ution to populations in the event of a radiological emergency. The commission, in consultation with the department of health, shall develop a set of standards and protocols for pre-distribution of potassium iodide as provided in this section. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD03508-01-5
