AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to grants and reimbursements to
  public and nonpublic schools for the costs related to  the  hiring  of
  school  resource  officers  or  for  costs  related  to the Drug Abuse
  Resistance Education program

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Subdivision 6 of section 186-f of the tax law, is amended
by adding a new paragraph (h) to read as follows:
  (H) UP TO THE SUM OF THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY MAY BE  USED  FOR
THE  PROVISION  OF  GRANTS  OR  REIMBURSEMENTS  TO  PUBLIC AND NONPUBLIC
SCHOOLS FOR THE COSTS RELATED TO THE HIRING OF SCHOOL RESOURCE  OFFICERS
OR  FOR COSTS RELATED TO THE DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAM, TO
BE DISTRIBUTED PURSUANT TO STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES ISSUED BY THE STATE.
FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION, NONPROFIT SCHOOL SHALL MEAN A NON-PRO-
FIT SCHOOL IN THE STATE, OTHER THAN  A  PUBLIC  SCHOOL,  WHICH  PROVIDES
INSTRUCTION  IN  ACCORDANCE  WITH SECTION THIRTY-TWO HUNDRED FOUR OF THE
EDUCATION LAW.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
