  tee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions

AN ACT to require the department of public  service  to  obtain  certain
  information  from  each water-works corporation serving fifty thousand
  or more water users and water authority within the state and  issue  a
  report relating thereto

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The department of public service shall transmit  a  request
for  information  to each water-works corporation serving fifty thousand
or more water users and water authority within the state requesting  any
and  all  information  related  to  fire hydrant maintenance, servicing,
replacement, and if applicable, fees that are charged either to a  muni-
cipality,  fire  district,  or  water user for fire hydrant maintenance,
servicing, and replacement.
  (a) The department shall seek from each water-works corporation  serv-
ing fifty thousand or more water users and water authority the following
information:
  1. All invoices associated with maintenance, servicing, or replacement
of fire hydrants for a period of at least one year;
  2.  All  contracts associated with maintenance, servicing, or replace-
ment of fire hydrants for a period of at least one year; and
  3. All records associated with the billing of maintenance,  servicing,
or  replacement  of  fire  hydrants to a municipality, fire district, or
water users for a period of at least one year.
  (b) Each water-works corporation serving fifty thousand or more  water
users  or  water  authority that receives a request for information from
the department pursuant to this  act  shall  cooperate  fully  with  the
department, provide such information in a timely manner, and comply with
any  other  requests  and requirements deemed appropriate by the depart-
ment.
