AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the collection of data
  regarding ninth grade students attending career education programs

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Subdivision  10  of  section 3602 of the education law is
amended by adding a new paragraph e to read as follows:
  E. NINTH GRADE CAREER EDUCATION DATA COLLECTION. BEGINNING IN THE  TWO
THOUSAND  SIXTEEN--TWO  THOUSAND  SEVENTEEN SCHOOL YEAR THE COMMISSIONER
SHALL COLLECT DATA FROM SCHOOL DISTRICTS RECEIVING AID UNDER THIS SUBDI-
VISION ON THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN THE BASE YEAR THAT ARE IN GRADE NINE
AND IN CAREER EDUCATION SEQUENCES IN TRADE, INDUSTRIAL, TECHNICAL, AGRI-
CULTURAL OR HEALTH PROGRAMS AS WELL AS STUDENTS IN GRADE NINE IN  CAREER
EDUCATION  SEQUENCES IN BUSINESS AND MARKETING AS DEFINED BY THE COMMIS-
SIONER.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

ENROLLED IN CAREER  EDUCATION  COURSES  IN  TRADE/INDUSTRIAL  EDUCATION,
TECHNICAL  EDUCATION,  AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION, HEALTH OCCUPATIONS EDUCA-
TION, BUSINESS AND MARKETING  EDUCATION,  FAMILY  AND  CONSUMER  SCIENCE
EDUCATION,  AND  TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN A MANNER PRESCRIBED BY
THE COMMISSIONER.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
