BILL NUMBER: S6223
TITLE OF BILL :
An act authorizing the division of criminal justice services to add to
the police officers memorial the names of peace officers of the state
of New York who are slain in the line of duty
PURPOSE :
Allows the names of peace officers slain in the line of duty in the
State of New York to be added to the Police Officers Memorial.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS :
This bill would allow for the names, departments, and dates of death
of peace officers slain in the line of duty in the State of New York,
in the discretion of the Police Officers Memorial Advisory Committee,
under the discretion of the Division of Criminal Justice Services, to
be added to the Police Officers Memorial located on the Empire State
Plaza in the City of Albany.
JUSTIFICATION :
The intent of the memorial is to honor all fallen state officers who
lost their lives in the line of duty. Currently, only the names of

AN ACT authorizing the division of criminal justice services to add to
the police officers memorial the names of peace officers of the state
of New York who are slain in the line of duty
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law, the names,
departments and dates of death of peace officers slain in the line of
duty in the state of New York state may, in the discretion of the police
officers memorial advisory committee, under the direction of the divi-
sion of criminal justice services, be added to the police officers memo-
rial located on the Empire State Plaza in the city of Albany.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
