AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to allowing the
public to photograph records accessed through a FOIL request
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Subdivision 5 of section 87 of the public officers law is
amended by adding a new paragraph (c) to read as follows:
(C) EACH AGENCY SHALL ALLOW A PERSON WHO HAS BEEN GRANTED ACCESS TO A
RECORD TO PHOTOGRAPH, VIDEOTAPE OR OTHERWISE ELECTRONICALLY TRANSCRIBE
AN IMAGE OF SUCH RECORD, WITHOUT CHARGING A FEE FOR SUCH TRANSCRIPTION.
S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
have become a law.
