  printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions

AN ACT in relation to authorizing Thomas Collins to file a  request  for
  change  of  benefit coverage with the New York state teachers' retire-
  ment system

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, Thomas Collins,
who  is  currently  a  member of the New York state teachers' retirement
system and who is currently receiving benefits in accordance  with  such
retirement  system,  and  who  subsequently,  failed  to  file  a timely
election to be covered by the benefits of article 11  of  the  education
law, shall be deemed to be covered by the benefits of such article 11 to
change  his  current retirement option, if within one year of the effec-
tive date of this act, he shall file a written request  to  that  effect
with the state comptroller.
  S 2. All past service costs associated with the implementation of this
act shall be borne by Thomas Collins.
  S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
