BILL NUMBER:S2722 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the legislative law, in relation to limiting the amount of time any member of the legislature may serve as temporary president of the senate, speaker of the assembly, minority leader of the senate, minority leader of the assembly or chairman of a legislative committee PURPOSE: This bill limits the tenure of legislative leaders and committee chairs. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the Legislative Law by adding two new sections, 5-b and 5-c. * 5-b limits the tenure of the temporary president, speaker and minority leaders to less than twelve (12) years. * 5-c limits the tenure of the committee chair of a single committee to no more than eight (8) years with an exception for the Committee on Rules where there is no limit.
