BILL NUMBER: S6472 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Marine Lance Corporal James J. Jackowski Memorial Highway" PURPOSE : Designates a portion of the state highway system, in the town of Lewisboro, county of Westchester, as the "Marine Lance Corporal James J. Jackowski Memorial Highway." SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section one of the bill amends the highway law by adding a new section 344-e that designates all that portion of the state highway system constituting state route thirty-five in the town of Lewisboro, county of Westchester, beginning at the intersection of state route thirty-five and state route one hundred twenty-four, and terminating at the intersection of state route thirty-five and Ridgefield Avenue, shall be designated and known as the "Marine Lance Corporal James J. Jackowski Memorial Highway." Section two states the commissioner of transportation shall provide

MURPHY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Marine Lance Corporal James J. Jack- owski Memorial Highway" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-e to read as follows: S 344-E. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "MARINE LANCE CORPORAL JAMES J. JACKOWSKI MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE THIRTY-FIVE IN THE TOWN OF LEWISBORO, COUNTY OF WESTCHESTER, BEGINNING AT THE INTER- SECTION OF STATE ROUTE THIRTY-FIVE AND STATE ROUTE ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-FOUR, CONTINUING IN A GENERALLY EASTERLY DIRECTION ON STATE ROUTE THIRTY-FIVE, AND TERMINATING AT THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE THIRTY- FIVE AND RIDGEFIELD AVENUE, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "MARINE LANCE CORPORAL JAMES J. JACKOWSKI MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be of cere- monial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.
