 AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to preventing  any  indi-
   vidual  from  entering into a school without showing valid photo iden-
   tification
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. Section 305 of the education law is amended by adding a new
 subdivision 57 to read as follows:
   57.  THE  COMMISSIONER SHALL PROMULGATE SUCH STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS
 AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO PREVENT ANY INDIVIDUAL  FROM  ENTERING  INTO  ANY
 SCHOOL  WITHOUT  SHOWING  VALID  PHOTO  IDENTIFICATION  FOR ANY PURPOSE,
 INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, VOTING IN AN ELECTION WHERE THE  INDIVID-
 UAL'S  POLLING PLACE IS LOCATED WITHIN THE SCHOOL, ATTENDING THE SCHOOL,
 OR VISITING THE SCHOOL.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of July  next  succeeding
 the date on which it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the
 addition,  amendment  and/or  repeal of any rule or regulation necessary
 for the implementation of this act on its effective date are  authorized
 to be made or completed on or before such effective date.
