 AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in  relation  to  waiving  of
   certain  inspection  fees  by  Suffolk  or Nassau counties for veteran
   organizations
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section  1.  The  general  municipal  law  is  amended by adding a new
 section 99-x to read as follows:
   § 99-X. WAIVER OF CERTAIN INSPECTION FEES FOR VETERAN ORGANIZATIONS BY
 SUFFOLK OR NASSAU COUNTIES. 1. FOR PURPOSES OF  THIS  SECTION,  "VETERAN
 ORGANIZATION"  SHALL  MEAN  AN  ASSOCIATION, CORPORATION OR OTHER ENTITY
 THAT QUALIFIES UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3)  OR  SECTION  501(C)(19)  OF  THE
 INTERNAL  REVENUE CODE AS A TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATION THAT HAS BEEN ORGAN-
 IZED FOR THE BENEFIT OF VETERANS AND  RECOGNIZED  OR  CHARTERED  BY  THE
 UNITED  STATES  CONGRESS,  INCLUDING,  BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE   DISABLED
 AMERICAN VETERANS, THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS, THE AMERICAN LEGION AND
 THE VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA.
   2. VETERAN ORGANIZATIONS SHALL BE  EXEMPT  FROM  ANY  INSPECTION  FEES
 LEVIED  BY SUFFOLK OR NASSAU COUNTIES WHERE SUCH FEES ARE RELATED TO THE
 ORGANIZATION PERFORMING CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS OR FACILITY UPGRADES  TO  A
 BUILDING OWNED BY A VETERAN ORGANIZATION.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
