 AN ACT to grant Philip Fagan eligibility for permanent appointment as  a
   police  officer  with the police department of the village of Highland
   Falls, in the county of Orange
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Notwithstanding  any provision of section 58 of the civil
 service law to the contrary, the village of Highland Falls, in the coun-
 ty of Orange is hereby authorized and directed,  upon  approval  of  the
 police  chief  of  the  village  of  Highland Falls, to reinstate Philip
 Fagan, a part-time police officer employed by the  village  of  Highland
 Falls,  who  previously  received a permanent appointment in the compet-
 itive class of civil service as a police officer with the police depart-
 ment of the village of Harriman, in the county of Orange, to a full-time
 competitive position as a police officer with the police  department  of
 the village of Highland Falls.
