 AN  ACT  to amend the education law, in relation to the requiring of CPR
   certification among teachers and lunch monitors in school cafeterias
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 3001-e
 to read as follows:
   § 3001-E. CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) CERTIFICATION FOR TEACH-
 ERS AND LUNCH MONITORS IN CAFETERIAS. ON AND AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF
 THIS  SECTION,  IT  SHALL  BE REQUIRED OF SUPERVISING TEACHERS AND OTHER
 PERSONNEL OVERSEEING A SCHOOL CAFETERIA, TO HOLD A VALID CERTIFICATE  IN
 CARDIOPULMONARY  RESUSCITATION.  PRIOR TO THE START OF EACH SCHOOL YEAR,
 SUPERVISING TEACHERS AND OTHER PERSONNEL SHALL PROVIDE VALID EVIDENCE TO
 THEIR CHIEF SCHOOL  OFFICER  THAT  THEIR  CARDIOPULMONARY  RESUSCITATION
 KNOWLEDGE  AND SKILLS ARE CURRENT PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS CERTIFIED
 BY THE COMMISSIONER.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 3001-e
 to read as follows:
   §  3001-E. CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) CERTIFICATION AND HEIM-
 LICH MANEUVER TRAINING FOR TEACHERS AND LUNCH MONITORS IN CAFETERIAS. ON
 AND AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS SECTION, IT SHALL  BE  REQUIRED  OF
 SUPERVISING  TEACHERS AND OTHER PERSONNEL OVERSEEING A SCHOOL CAFETERIA,
 TO HOLD A VALID CERTIFICATE IN CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION AND  TO  BE
 TRAINED  IN  THE  ADMINISTRATION  OF THE HEIMLICH MANEUVER. PRIOR TO THE
 START OF EACH SCHOOL YEAR,  SUPERVISING  TEACHERS  AND  OTHER  PERSONNEL
 SHALL  PROVIDE  VALID  EVIDENCE  TO  THEIR CHIEF SCHOOL OFFICER THAT (I)
 THEIR CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION KNOWLEDGE  AND  SKILLS  ARE  CURRENT
 PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS CERTIFIED BY THE COMMISSIONER AND (II) THAT
 THEY HAVE RECEIVED TRAINING IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE HEIMLICH MANEU-
 VER.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
