KAVANAGH -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Judiciary AN ACT to amend the judiciary law, in relation to exemption from jury service THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The judiciary law is amended by adding a new section 511 to read as follows: § 511. EXEMPTION OF ELECTION INSPECTORS. ANY PERSON WHO HAS SERVED AS AN ELECTION INSPECTOR IN ANY GENERAL, LOCAL OR SPECIAL ELECTION SHALL BE EXEMPT FROM SERVICE AS A JUROR FOR A PERIOD OF FOUR YEARS FROM SUCH SERVICE UPON CLAIMING EXEMPTION THEREFROM. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD01921-01-7
