 AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in  relation  to  expanding
   the definition of "authorized emergency ATV" to include an all terrain
   vehicle designated by a proprietary ambulance company

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Subdivision 7 of section 2401 of the  vehicle  and  traffic
 law,  as added by chapter 402 of the laws of 1986, is amended to read as
 follows:
   7. "Authorized emergency ATV" shall mean an ATV designated as such  in
 writing  by  the chief executive officer of any duly organized volunteer
 OR PROPRIETARY ambulance company, fire department, or paid fire  depart-
 ment, operated by a member thereof and equipped with emergency lights as
 provided in section twenty-four hundred six of this article.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
