BUCHWALD -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to the residency requirements of the town building inspector and deputy town building inspector of the town of North Salem, Westchester county THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 17 of section 3 of the public officers law, as added by chapter 346 of the laws of 1983, is amended to read as follows: 17. In the town of North Salem, Westchester county, the provisions of this section requiring a person to be a resident of the political subdi- vision or municipal corporation of the state for which he shall be chosen or within which his official functions are required to be exer- cised, shall not prevent a person from holding the office of town build- ing inspector or deputy town building inspector of the town of North Salem, provided that such person resides [in the county in which such town is located or an adjoining county] within the state of New York. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11766-01-7
