BILL NUMBER: S6840 TITLE OF BILL : An act to authorize the Bais Rochel High School to file an application for exemption from water and sewer charges PURPOSE : The purpose of this bill is to authorize the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) to accept an application for exemption from water and sewer charges from a not-for-profit organization for fiscal years 2015 through 2016. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section one of this bill would authorize the NYC DEP to accept an application from Bais Rochel High school for exemption from water and sewer charges pursuant to Chapter 696 of the Laws of 1887, as amended, for the fiscal years of 2014-2015. If such application is accepted this legislation would require the application to be reviewed as if it had been received for fiscal years 2014 through 2015. If satisfied that the Moses Jacobwitz Charitable Foundation would otherwise be entitled to such exemption if such application had been filed, this legislation would authorize the NYC DEP commissioner, upon

DILAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to authorize the Bais Rochel High School to file an application for exemption from water and sewer charges THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the commissioner of the New York city department of environmental protection is hereby authorized to accept from the Bais Rochel High School, a not-for-profit corporation, an application for exemption from water and sewer charges pursuant to Chapter 696 of the laws of 1887, as amended, for the fiscal years of 2015 through 2016, for the parcel owned by such corporation in the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, desig- nated as block 2266, lot 1 in such borough. If accepted, the application shall be reviewed as if it had been received for fiscal years 2015 through 2016. If satisfied that such corporation would otherwise be entitled to such exemption if such corporation had filed an application for exemption for fiscal years 2015 through 2016, the commissioner of the New York city department of environmental protection, upon approval by the city coun- cil of the city of New York, may grant exemption from all water and sewer charges with respect to the subject water and sewer charges due and owing by such corporation on the effective date of this act and cancel charges, fines, penalties and interest remaining unpaid. § 2.
