 Introduced  by  Sen. ADDABBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
 AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to the  disclosure
   by hotels of contracts or similar agreements providing rooms to eligi-
   ble homeless persons or families

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
 206-f to read as follows:
   § 206-F. HOTEL DISCLOSURE OF CERTAIN OCCUPANCY.  1.  FOR  PURPOSES  OF
 THIS  SECTION THE TERM "HOTEL" MEANS A BUILDING OR PORTION OF A BUILDING
 WHICH IS REGULARLY USED AND KEPT OPEN AS SUCH FOR THE LODGING OF GUESTS.
 THE TERM "HOTEL" DOES NOT INCLUDE BUILDINGS WHICH FORMERLY WERE USED AND
 KEPT OPEN FOR THE LODGING OF GUESTS, BUT HAVE  BEEN  CONVERTED  FOR  THE
 SOLE USE OF TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS OR FAMILIES.
   2.  ANY HOTEL THAT ENTERS INTO A CONTRACT OR SIMILAR AGREEMENT FOR THE
 PURPOSES OF PROVIDING A ROOM TO AN ELIGIBLE HOMELESS  PERSON  OR  FAMILY
 SHALL  DISCLOSE  SUCH  CONTRACT OR AGREEMENT ON ALL FORMS OF ADVERTISING
 FOR SUCH HOTEL, AND SHALL  POST  A  SIGN  WITH  SUCH  INFORMATION  IN  A
 LOCATION THAT IS READILY ACCESSIBLE TO HOTEL PATRONS.
   §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
 have become a law.
