BILL NUMBER: S8684 SPONSOR: SERINO TITLE OF BILL: An act relating to authorizing Frank Pallett to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of State University of New York police officer PURPOSE: To deem Mr. Pallett eligible to take the competitive civil service exam- ination for the position for State University of New York police offi- cer. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Authorizes Mr. Pallett to sit for the civil service exam and to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time State University of New York police officer.

SERINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT relating to authorizing Frank Pallett to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of State University of New York police officer THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Frank Pallett, of Wappingers Falls, New York, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of State Univer- sity of New York police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time State University of New York police officer. § 2. Notwithstanding the age restrictions of section 58 of the civil service law or any other provision of law, Frank Pallett shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service laws applicable to full-time State University of New York police officers. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15850-02-8
