BILL NUMBER: S8764 SPONSOR: PHILLIPS TITLE OF BILL: An act relating to legalizing, validating, ratifying and confirming a transportation contract of the Port Washington Union Free School District PURPOSE: To rectify a clerical error that would negatively affect the Port Wash- ington Union Free School District. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill legalizes, validates, ratifies and confirms all acts taken or caused by the Port Washington Union Free School District and its officers, employees and agents relating to certain contracts. Section 2 of the bill directs the department of education to consider contracts for transportation aid as valid and proper obligations to the Port Washington Union Free School District.

PHILLIPS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT relating to legalizing, validating, ratifying and confirming a transportation contract of the Port Washington Union Free School District THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. All the acts done and proceedings heretofore had and taken or caused to be had and taken by the Port Washington Union Free School District and by all officers, employees or agents of such school district relating to or in connection with transportation contracts E267698, E275279, C415663, and E600646 of the 2017-2018 school year, and all acts incidental hereto are hereby legalized, validated, ratified and confirmed, notwithstanding any failure to comply with the contract award, approval and filing provisions of the education law, the general municipal law or any other law or any other statutory authority, rule or regulation, other than those filing provisions defined in paragraph a of subdivision 5 of section 3604 of the education law, in relation to any omission, error, defect, irregularity or illegality in such proceeding had and taken. § 2. The department of education is hereby directed to consider the aforementioned contracts for transportation aid as valid and proper obligations of the Port Washington Union Free School District. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15484-01-8
