AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to prohibiting prior
peace officers or police officers whose position as such was termi-
nated or vacated due to misconduct from again becoming a peace officer
or a police officer
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 837-v
to read as follows:
§ 837-V. PEACE OFFICERS AND POLICE OFFICERS TERMINATED FOR MISCONDUCT.
NO PERSON SHALL BE A PEACE OFFICER OR A POLICE OFFICER WHERE SUCH
PERSON'S PRIOR POSITION AS A PEACE OFFICER OR A POLICE OFFICER WAS
TERMINATED OR VACATED DUE TO SUCH PERSON'S MISCONDUCT.
§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
