 AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the  city  of  New  York,  in
   relation  to requiring that no traffic-control signal shall indicate a
   green light for traffic while  a  pedestrian-control  signal  at  such
   intersection displays a signal indicating walk for the pedestrian
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The administrative code of the city of New York is  amended
 by adding a new section 19-196-a to read as follows:
   §  19-196-A PEDESTRIAN-CONTROL SIGNALS; TIMING.  ANY INTERSECTION WITH
 A PEDESTRIAN-CONTROL SIGNAL SHALL HAVE SUCH SIGNAL PROGRAMMED  TO  INDI-
 CATE  THAT ALL PEDESTRIANS AT THE INTERSECTION SHALL CROSS THE STREET AT
 THE SAME TIME.  NO TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNAL SHALL INDICATE A  GREEN  LIGHT
 FOR  TRAFFIC  WHILE  A  PEDESTRIAN-CONTROL  SIGNAL  AT SUCH INTERSECTION
 DISPLAYS A SIGNAL INDICATING WALK OR A STEADY WALKING PERSON.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
